No matter where you live in the world, HostGator is not country specific in terms of where you can use their services. They have customers from every place on earth, satisfied customers - check out the reviews.
The only problem I can think of and it’s only something I would bring up to show that I am not biased is perhaps server response times. Because Hostgator servers are primarily hosted in Dallas, Texas (TX) this is where the data has to be picked up from to send it back to the user. So a few examples, if you are in Australia and Americans are accessing your website it would be fine, but it may be a fraction slower for Australians looking at the content, as the server in Texas has to route that information across a great land mass to get it on the computer screen in Australia.
Also if you live in let’s say Australia, uploading can also be a bit slow as you are using an ftp server located a vast distance away.
